Ode To A Friend

That was funny and yet it was 
just as depressing 
Maybe the two go hand in hand 
Words lose their meaning but 
I still find purpose 
If I don't try to understand 

Help me to see that not 
all things are cursed 
Help me to see the other side 
Happiness beckons but 
emptiness swallows 
All of our aspirations 

Now I know that the time 
has come to look back 
on the moments we had 
Now that they're gone I remember them 
better than when they were here 
I know it's too late 
Where did they go?
