Shine

I see the people pass my way
They never stop, they never stay
They never look at where they are
They chase a dream that's way too far

I see a child begin to play
But in his hands there's no display
Of toys or joy, just shadows gray
And silence deeper every day

And still I try
But every breath feels like a cry

Cause I know I'll never shine
No matter how I reach or climb
I call for Mom, but she's away
A voice I lost along the way
Dad is here, but cold as stone
His heart feels heavy, not my home

They said that pain would fade with time
But every step feels like a climb
The sky stays dark, the nights replay
The same old fears I hide by day

I tried to speak, I tried to pray
But every word just fades away
I wrote my thoughts, but they won't stay
Just washed away like tears of May

Cause I know I'll never shine
No matter how I beg or try
I search for light but see no ray
Just empty roads and skies of clay
I reach for hands that never stay
Just echoes telling me to stray

They see a smile, but deep inside
There's storms I've never learned to hide
I walk alone, I don't know why
Just holding back the urge to cry

So if I fall, don't light a flame
Don't speak in poems, don't sing my name
There was no light, no path, no sign
