Promises

He spotted her across the table
He could tell that she was kind and she was sweet
He lacks the courage that he knows he wants to show her
She lack the confidence she has but couldn't see

Only time will tell if she would ever love him
If she could hold on hope for one more day
But those promises they make, well make them suffer every day
In the end they hope its worth the time they'll wait

And he walks away from her that night, trying best to end the fight
But she stand her ground and he knows that he is wrong
He wants to tell her that he loves her smile, that she's worth the wait but all the while
Well his lips won't move and his mouth won't make a sound

It was a simple life that they deserved, but even though it took so long to learn
They wouldn't have it any other way
And every day he stops to look at her, well he hopes she knows that he is hers
And there's no one who could take it all away

The time is past, the lies and tears forgotten
Of the memories and how they want to be
And how they fell in love that night, without a thought of what just might
Become something more than both of them could see
