3:12Had the hot rod leaking out, pumping around Seeing the sights in covering ground Tennessee, Kentucky, and Carolina The Smoky Mountains sure look fine Cruisin' along and doin' real great I had no place to go, so I wasn't late Hittin' on 90, my spirits were high The Burlington limit had passed me by When he blowed his whistle, I hooted my horn I knew right then that the race was born The engineer looked out and waved at me He had racing blood, I could plainly see So I stepped on the gas as he pulled away Cruising side by side as we went on our way We traveled along, mile after mile Not much excitement, but sharing a smile I'd plumb forgot about the gasoline She started to sputter, I knew she was lean We were out in the country, miles from town So I pulled her over to look around It just so happened up there in the hills All them farmers had plenty of stills I walked to a farmer out on the flat And told him my troubles as we started to chat Well, he never had a drop of gas on the place So I figured by then it was the end of the chase We talked a while, and he made the remark His old corn squeezes had plenty of spark So I figured it might be worth a try And a gallon of stuff I arranged to buy Well, I carried it back to the Hot Rod Lincoln And poured in the squeezes made for drinking I poured most of the squeezes into the tank Except for a swig or two that I drank Well, I touched the starter, she sounded great I and the Burlington had a date Well, I shoved her in gear and away I flew You never seen nothing like the Mountain Dew What little I drank was makin' me high It didn't take long for the miles to go by I caught the Burlington right on a turn I knew by then Mountain Dew would burn He blowed his whistle a time or two He should've had some of that Mountain Dew The Hot Rod Lincoln did fairly fly As the throttle opened and went on by 120 down the road Both me and the Lincoln carrying a load I am going back up in the hills And setting me up one of them stills But I'll bet you my bottom dollar Them colors of the drags are gonna holler But I ain't gonna be nobody's fool No more drinking, I'll use it for fuel 'Cause there won't be a dragster quicker When I fill her up on drinking liquor
