First I introduce a motive,
reduce it carefully.
As we mount a little tension,
Your attention starts to pique.
The centerpiece is a soft release.
It's a lease on time with the inside rhyming.
I pretend the world is ending.
You pretend you believe.
When you find yourself astray
with the ashtray overflowing,
your habit's been ingrained.
It's a comfort to come home.
And take the ride another time
