Donning full regalia
Strutting on the deck
A brave and handsome sailor
Was about to risk his neck

Rumour said he fancied
Some forbidden fruit
A pearl worthy of shanties
Prettier than any loot

So off he went to find her
Wherever she may be

So the silly sailor
Drunken on his love
Began to serenade her
Underneath the stars above

Seeing he was smitten
She restrained a smile
And made just like a kitten
Eyes big to beguile

But then he took her by surprise
And fell on bended knee
And asked her if she'd be his wife
Or else he'd die at sea

Will you marry me?"

Else he'll die at sea

So yes, I'll marry thee"

Then leaping to his feet
He swept her off the floor
And kissed her till he felt replete
Yet still she wanted more

But when the Captain heard of this
He flew into a rage
Poseidon would be jealous of
In any day or age

Still they sang, "la-la-la-la-la-la
This was meant to be"
And they sang, "la-la-la-la-la-la
We'll be married out at sea"

And we'll make, "la-la-la-la-la-la"
Every single night
Until our tra-la-la-la-la-la
Fa-la-la-la's out of sight
