Dare to dream
A million voices of doubt
Piled upon my own
Who am I who dares to dream?
Who am I to believe things could be different for me?
That I deserve better?
That my people deserve better?

A million voices of doubt suffocate me
When I try to come up for air
To breathe the breath of relief
When I try to leave the heaviness of Monotony
The quicksands of conformity

When my own history books teach me
More about my limitations and my trauma
Than my potential in life

The audacity to dream comes to us all
At different points in our journey
Either with waves of fury
Or gently like a pleading child

I am the child of the infinite
Choosing a human experience in order to test the limits
Of a system that predates me
A system that did not made me and cannot hold me

So I set fire to the old me
And stepped into my light
When they asked, how dare you?
The audacity
I asked
How dare you not?
Embrace the unknown with a fortified faith
Destroy the mirror that reflect the fear they teach you
How dare you not, wake up
And rise from the bed of mediocrity that they made for you
