Where Do We Go?
Hannah Sands
3:23He doesn't understand her loneliness Tried hard as a lover can, she can't go on like this She accepts the love she thinks that she deserves But always gives too much, that's just The way that she has learned to love Learned to love See, growing up she had to fight for love She felt all alone And when she acted out well, her mother kicked her out of home Turned to boys and drugs to make her feel heard But it never worked, that's just the way that she has learned to love Mmm, learned to love He doesn't understand his own temperament Laid down by his father's hand, family sentiment Woman he loves in pain from fits of rage most every day It's not okay, he knows there must be better ways to learn to love Learn to love See, growing up he had to fight for love He was all alone Had it rough at school, but not as rough as what he had at home He couldn't understand why everyone would leave His heart would bleed and through his needs he learned to love How did he, how did he learn to love? Some are born into lives with days full of smiles and houses are homes Where lessons are learned and boundaries Respected and then set in stone Access to good education and those who are patient are guiding the way They have food on the table and told They are loved at the end of the day Others come out of their mothers and into A life where they're fighting through tears Those who are supposed to protect them subject Them to trauma they'll battle for years Never been given the time, the system Dismissed them and turned them away Day into night is a struggle to heal and face another day How do they, how do they learn to love? How do they learn to love, oh yeah? How do we, how do we learn to love? Love
