3:00Narcissism took a walk With Sanctimony around the block Sanctimony was dressed in Sunday best Narcissism clean and freshly pressed “What we have, I’m telling you I don’t know what we’re going to do We have a schism” Said Narcissism Sanctimony pursed her lips And put her hands on bony hips She said, “I don’t care, it’s out of my hair All the fault I’m laying on you square Your selfishness has made it plain, So you can take all of the blame For the schism It’s you, Narcissism” Narcissism grinned a grin And put his fingers to his chin “I’m very glad to hear what you do say For me it’s mea culpa all the way If one like you should dislike me That fills me with girlish glee I’ll keep the schism” Said Narcissism An awkward silence fell upon The wind picked up, the sun was gone Sanctimony turned redder than a bible Narcissism continued on his idyll All was good and sanctified Everybody picked a side Of the schism Sanctimony or Narcissism You might wonder what this is for Why I extend this metaphor Narcissism would laugh and wave a hand Sanctimony would say it should be banned As for me, well can’t you see I’ll leave it as the mystery Of the schism Sanctimony and Narcissism
