Only there am I going to find peace
I can't find peace on the street
But still I had to learn from the city, you must earn what you keep
And many precious lessons I have learned as a thief

When I look back, I've achieved some great feats
Travelled a road full of snake pits and wild beasts
People lying through their teeth, I remember
When I didn't sleep for two weeks
I surrender, you can't beat these mean streets
Seen many get swallowed up by these streets
Now I treasure the fact I can sleep on clean sheets
