3:12"Don't Look Back" started as a completely, uh, different sounding record Uhm, sonically it was completely different Uhm, but I loved, I loved the idea of Kinda being upfront and honest at the onset of the relationship I remember watching this, this stand-up comedy series, and And of the, uh, one of the comedians kinda made a funny point But it's so true And, it was that, you know at the very beginning of a relationship You know, he'd wish that women would be real If you're crazy just tell me you're crazy, I can accept that 'Cause everything is okay at the very beginning You could tell 'em you're liar and you're a cheater And somehow at the very beginning, for being honest, you get points Maybe not that extreme but I think you get the point Uhm, just being upfront and honest Really goes a long way at the very top of, of a relationship And, I guess that's why I love this song because It really is a, it really is a warning Uhm, that as much as, well in this case, I love you I'm liable to do something that might hurt you And, should I do that then I need you to get as far away from me as possible And don't even think of coming back 'Cause most likely I'll just keep hurting you so I think, you know, as crazy as it may sound It's commendable just to be honest And I approached it, Happy Perez who I co-produced the song with Was, you know, completely understood, you know The, the, the goal on what we were trying to accomplish Uhm, almost like it was, we were scoring this, you know, this film, so Uhm it really is a, it really is a story, uhm and explanation and then it kind of It kind of segues into, uh, my favorite part of the song which is Uhm, a cover of "Time of the Season" Which, uh, has been one of my favorite records of all time And, uh, I just kinda gave it, you know, I gave it, you know, a sound that I felt was, was, you know, indicative of my perspective and my sensibilities It's a great story if you follow it, it was meant to be very dynamic, yeah
