Better Days

I saw it early
It was like the world spoke to me
Telling me I did not belong
Often thought of my senses and only just barely
I thought that this was fairly justified
I was drifting and hurting
But somehow knew I was rising
And if our chases define us
It is our changes that guide us

I knew I was better
and I rose with the rising sun
I'd been hiding for so long
I was leaving my shelter
I was leaving who I once was
And found what I was chasing for so long

I was hiding in the darkness
Seeking shelter from the rain
I was hiding many hours
And those hours turned to days
Always felt I was a liar
I was lying to myself
And if the changes define us
It is our chases that guide us

I knew I was better
and I rose with the rising sun
I'd been hiding for too long
I was leaving my shelter
I was leaving who I once was
And found what I was chasing for so long

I wrote so many dead letters
I never really sent to anyone
And now I can't stand by them at all
I knew my days would be better
If I rose with rising sun
And sometime soon my nights are gone
