And the pressure to conform

As I push on down the stone-laced street
With nothing but the street lights to guide me
I find myself questioning 'Is there
more to life than what's left behind me?'

As I bide my time the clouds turn grey
And I'll chase the sun into the sea
Those words said through clenched teeth
A promise made that you couldn't keep

All these ideas and intentions to act
Have become an intangible list of
promises I inherently struggle to keep
Ambition being the strongest burden to uphold

Lacking the substance to create and the will to achieve
I'll burn myself alive

Time slowly takes a hold and I'll take this all to heart
