On The Third Day

The three-day story is found in Luke 23rd and 24th chapters
And the 20th chapter of saint John
On the first day jesus was crucified bled and died
And hung on the cross from the 6th to the 9th hour

As the sabbath drawn two rich men
Nicodemus and Joseph of Arimathea begged the body of Jesus
They took him down from the cross
And put him in Joseph's borrowed tomb

Why a borrowed tomb?
He knew he would only need it for three days
On the second day
Those precious hands that touch blind eyes to see
Those precious hands that healed the sick
Are now folded on his breath

Those precious lips that spoke words of life are now hush
This same Jesus that laid in the tomb is the
Same Jesus that created the heaven and the earth
And man in six days and rested the seventh day

Now that he regained the man that he made he rest again
He is just keeping the sabbath day hope

Three long days, he laid in the grave, many women and men
They didn't believe that Jesus would ever live again
On the third day, he stepped out from the grave and said
All power is in my hand
All power is in my hand

On that third day morning, just about the break of dawn
An angel descended from Heaven and he rolled back, rolled back the gravestone

He said, fear not enough, for he hasn't risen yet
And it was very much to their surprise
Go and tell his disciples that Jesus is alive
On the third day, he stepped out from the grave and said
All power is in my hand
All power is in my hand

(He still lives) oh, oh, oh, yes he does
(He still lives) The reason I know my God lives is, on that third day
(He still lives)On the very first day of the week
There was an earthquake
And an angel rolled back the stone from the tomb
And said to Jesus, Son of God
Thy Father called, (He still lives)

And he got up, full of his green clothes
Walked out of that bar of two
And he said he'd push the rim in, 15 and 55
Oh, devil, where is thy sting?
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, green, where is thy victory
In Revelations 1 and 18? Jesus said, I am he that liveth and was dead
And behold, I am alive forevermore (he still lives)

And I have the keys of the grave and of death
And go tell the world, I know he's being real!
If you don't believe, you ought to go down to the hospital
And look at those who lie on the bed of affliction
Every time they move
Somebody's got to be there to tell them all about it

The doctors have given them up to die
Done all they could, but when Jesus stepped in, they're healed

Somebody out there can be a witness right now (he still lives)
