21-Punishment

䷔ 21-噬嗑卦【火雷噬嗑】

噬嗑，亨，利用獄。

初九，屨校滅趾，无咎。
六二，噬膚，滅鼻，无咎。
六三，噬腊肉，遇毒。小吝无咎。
九四，噬乾胏，得金矢，利艱貞吉。
六五，噬乾肉，得黃金，貞厲无咎。
上九，何校滅耳，凶。

《彖傳》：頤中有物，曰噬嗑。噬嗑而亨，剛柔分動而明，雷電合而章，柔得中而上行，雖不當位，利用獄也。

《象傳》：雷電，噬嗑，先王以明罰敕法。

《繫辭傳》：日中為市，致天下之民，聚天下之貨，交易而退，各得其所，蓋取諸噬嗑。

《序卦傳》：可觀而後有所合，故受之以噬嗑；嗑者合也。

《雜卦傳》：噬嗑，食也。

Hexagram 21-Punishment(Shi He)【Fire Over Thunder】

Punishment, smooth progress, advantageous to use punishment

Line１：The shoe is taken off, the toes are lost, there is no blame
Line 2：Biting the skin, the nose is lost, there is no blame
Line 3：Biting the dried meat, encountering poison. Slight stinginess, but no blame
Line 4：Biting the dry bone, obtaining a metal arrow, advantageous to be correct and firm, auspicious
Line 5：Biting the dry meat, obtaining gold, correct and dangerous, but no blame
Line 6：The burden is taken off, the ear is lost, misfortune

《The Judgment》：There is something in the mouth, called Shi He. Shi He and smooth progress, the strong and the soft are divided and move clearly, thunder and lightning combine and are evident, the soft obtains the center and moves upwards, even though not in the proper position, it is advantageous to use punishment

《The Appended Phrases》：At midday, there is a market, gathering the people of the world, collecting the goods of the world, trading and then retreating, each obtaining what they need, this is taken from Punishment

《The Sequence of the Hexagrams》：Only after something is worth seeing can it be brought together, hence it is followed by Punishment (Shi He biting through); to bite through is to bring together

《The Mixed Hexagrams》：Punishment(Shi He), to bite through, means to eat
